XP Login Scripts

I am running a program which i have used in windows 98 for years. The program runs fine except when you have to run an individual users specalised report. XP wont run the custom script because it says the user profile in dos has not been loaded. I checked and in 98 all that is needed is a set command to set the user id in the autoexec.bat file... i tried running a bat file with this script in it on startup but it does not work... i'm currently checking with the comapny to see what they say about it but i thought someone here might have some idea.

running in compatibilty mode might be worth a shot, but like it still wont be able to use the DOS correctly.

Checkout Virtual PC if you cant find a way to get it working in XP.

Virtual Pc lets you run another OS inside of your current OS and for basic stuff is pretty stable. It also shouldnt affect the stability/files of the OS you are running it in. It just makes a little fake hard drive contained as a single file on your hard drive.

I believe Microsoft offers a 45 day trial if you want to check into that. You would be able to install windows 98 as a virtual pc and just run that for this program.
