provided you are using 'Password enabled' on your xp screen saver, hitting esc will not bypass it.

I can do that with no problem but walking away from my pc and enabling said screen saver is beyond my expertise. I had a pgm under 98SE that I would do this.

I saw something (I think it was at the Geeks) that was cool; a wireless transmitter you keep in your pocket (keychain) that automatically locks your computer when you walk out of range (like 6-8 feet), then automatically gives you access when you walk in range again. If you forget the transmitter, you can still sign on using a PW.

I thought this may be in the vein you're looking for...

Just right click on the desktop and select properties, then the screen saver tab. There is a box to check/uncheck that enables the password feature.

Here is a little program I've used for years. Workstation Lock 3.3
Costs $10

They also have a program that will start whatever program you desire when the screen saver kicks on.
Execute Screen Saver Utility, version 2.1

Here is an article on creating a shortcut so that you can manually start your screen saver.
