Misc Wanting to connect two computers useing one modem

I have a cable modem that. on the back, have two ports. One port is a usb and the other, ethernet. My computer is connected by the usb and i want to connect my other to the ethernet. Can i do this without buying any routers or anything. I just want to hook the ethernet in the ethernet port and connect with the modem. While also being connected useing the usb.

I just want to have the internet on both computers. One of the computers have an ethernet 10/100 network card. I want to run an ethernet cord from the modem to that card but still have my usb connection on this comp.

You need to install ICS on the computer with the modem. Check out the page below:

http://www.homenethelp.com/ics/ics-install-net98.asp

They talk about using two NICs though, but it should work with the USB modem too. Then just use a twisted network cable between your computers and set up the network.

Oh, and you can't connect both computers to the modem using both an ethernet connection and an USB one. Impossible.

Yea, after you have done all that, you have to setup a network and lucky you installed in Windows XP; a machine that does everything automatically for you
