Sam & Max Cancelled

Taken from the LucasArts web site:

"LucasArts has decided to stop production on Sam & Max"

AAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ggggggggggggghhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I guess if it's not a First Person Shooter or a Fantasy RPG, it's not worth making, right?

Sad.

Both sam and max and full throttle have been cancelled as they said that adventure games just arent as viable any more. Its a damn shame as games are almost all identical with little inovation.
But I suppose they saw how the latest broken sword did and thought against making more.

I don't think Adventure Games aren't viable. They simply make less money than other genres.

I have no doubt that the SAM & MAX game would have been profitable. The suits at LucasArts, however, probably had a conversation that went something like this:

Developer: "Sam & Max is going great. The story telling, graphics, humor and originallity in this game are going to set the industry on it's ear!"

Finance Manager: "Great, how much will it make?"

Developer: "Sales Projections show that we should sell about 5 million copies."

Finance Manager: "Really? Nevermind. We'll just slap a Star Wars label on another piece of junk we have lying around here and sell 10 million."
