Monitor flickers. Need help!

I have a Nvidia GeForce2 MX400 64MB PCI video card running on an older Gateway computer with the 810 chipset series. The computer stats are a 550Mhz Intel Celeron CPU and 192MB of RAM. I am running Windows XP Home on my computer and I have just upgraded from the integrated graphics card to this Nvidia card. My monitor randomnly flickers like its going into standby but then comes back on instantly. This seems to happen when I am loading web pages, but i'm not sure if this has any connection with the problem. For troubleshooting purposes I reverted back to using the integraded graphics for about a week and my monitor never flickered. I am having trouble figuring this one out, as I have used every driver that I can think of. I have used one from Windows Update, I have used one from Nvidia's web page. But something strange happened when I reverted to using the one that came with the graphics card. When it should just flicker and that would be it, instead it would switch to 640x480 resolution and 16 colors, then pop up a box with the error message saying that it's had a device failure, then i'd have to restart my computer and everything would be fine untill this happened again. It happens quite often, at least once every 30 minutes. I have checked the following, the graphics card is compatible with Windows XP, there are no resource conflicts, I have the most up to date chipset drivers and BIOS drivers. One other thing to add is sometimes when I log onto my username, my icons on all of the menus seem fine but when I highlight them they turn black and when I open outlook express all of it's icons are black and I have to restart my computer to resolve this issue. Any help that I can get in solving this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks for the advice. I think I kinda figured it was a power problem as my computer is a little old and only has I think a 200 watt power supply. I took the Nvidia out and am currently using the integrated graphics, even though it only has 4MB of memory I am planning on getting a new computer soon though so maybe I can be rid of "Old Computer Woes" lol. Goin with a Dell instead of Gateway this time though. I think a Dell would probably be a better choice in the long run. So for everyone who's lookin, consider this thread closed. Once again thanks to everyone who helped.
