Kids Question about ECS K7S5A bios

When I set the fsb in the bios to 133/133, restart the computer, and then go back into the bios I get a high frequency noise. what would be making that noise? My computer runs great at 133/133, i was just wondering what that noise could be?

my specs are Athlon xp 2400+

1 GB ddr333
, also the temperature is fine at the 133/133 too, so it is not a heat problem,

Also, since i installed the xp 2400+ a few weeks ago, the board has a quirk every now and then at start up, everything will start up, but won't post, the monitor has a signal going to it, as the green led stays on, but no post from the graphics card. but when I hit the reset button it post and boots to windows? what would cause this?

Thank you for any ideas

Reseat your Vidcard? Also, if you put your computer in a new case, check to see if the riser screws are all in the right spot. Clear your CMOS. Make sure all connections are secure.

Just some things to try.

EDIT: Added:

The high frequency noise, where is it comin from. Is it a fan? Your speakers? Internal speaker? Can ya give a lil more detail?

Question about ECS K7S5A bios

I am not sure exactly where the noise is coming from, but it sounds like it might be coming from the rear of the computer, or maybe it is just echoing through the case so it sounds like its coming from there, maybe its the pc speaker in the case.

I haven't changed the video card or taken it out latly, the 2400 is the only thing I have added lately to my pc. I wonder if it is just some bios glitch? Because after I installed the xp 2400 every thing was fine, then one day it was reporting the 2400 as a duron 2400, so flashed the bios, and it was fine again. Until now when this glitch shows up. Other wise everything runs perfect.

power supply?? does the bios reset itself sometimes??

the k7s5a is a little picky about power supplies....it likes 2.0a on the 5vsb line....

Question about ECS K7S5A bios

I think it should have enough power running to it, I looked at the power spec in the bios and they looked good, I have an enermax 350 watt supply installed. But the first time the glitch started was a while after I installed the 2400. Before that I didn't have any problems. But I don't think its a problem with the cpu as it runs perfect and stays cool.

High frequency noise usually comes from an inductive coil that is physically oscillating. It might be one of the three obvious copper wire coils on the mainboard's CPU power regulation circuitry, or a similar component inside the power supply. (Warning: The inside of the PSU is hazardous. Don't open it!).
