Weird Problem Which Really Has Me Stuck (Problem Solved Recomend You Read)

Ok, im building a computer with the following specs,

9200 Radeon 128mb
450 Watt PSU
Intel Celeron 2.4ghz
MSI 848P Neo Mobo
512mb DDR
Windows XP Pro

Ok, when I first built this system the first time I turned it on I got a error from the VDU (No Signal) so I thought fine pulled the card in and out a couple of times checked all the connections turned it back on and it worked. Worked for another few days the system was designed to run a CCTV system in one of my dads shops, anyway got everything setup windows pro and all the required software. Then it was taken to the shop and they turned it on again, no signal as soon as the pc is turned on.

So I get it back and can't get it working I try a different card, same problem, different ram, try unplugging hard disk, cd drive anything which isn't needed. Still doesn't work so I assume its the motherboard. (Until this point it was running a Shuttle AB60N mobo).

So I get the new mobo today the MSI 848P Neo get everything setup still same problem. Tried ram again, unplugging anything not needed etc still nothing.

The MSI motherboard had a D Bracket which displays different light combinations to indicate faults anyway the light indication that it shows is,

Testing Base And Extended Memory

- Testing base memory from 240k to 640k and extended

memory above 1mb using various patterns
Anyone got any ideas?

so is that listed as a fault? I mean on their website or the manual for the d-bracket do is that listed as a fault...the memory thing you listed?

---

have you tried another power supply?

--

a longshot, but maybe the motherboard is touching the case...maybe u have to try it outside of the case to see what it does??

I don't think thats the fault but thats where it stops during the startup process. Im trying a new PSU tomo and if that doesn't work ill give the mobo idea a shot.

Yea, maybe the mobo. Not sure about that one but I think everything is best running an Intel CPU with an Intel Mobo. When these two come, compability works.

A little bit of troubleshooting:
Try pulling mobo out of the case, install only CPU/HS/Fan, ram and video card. Connect vid card to monitor. See if that boots okay.

If it does, you are probably shorting out somewhere when you install the mobo into the case.

Ok guys, I found the problem after two new motherboards a new 550Watt PSU swapping practically every part in the computer with another tested part it was the case......

We swapped round the case and it worked surprised? I am, what I can only assume is that the powerswitch was faulty the switch on that case didn't always work you sometimes had to press it several times so what probably happened was somewhere along the line the motherboard wasn't geting the full signal to start up so the PSU started and the heatsink started but nothing else did.
