Permissions don't work on mapped drives in Win 98 or Win XP

This is a problem that has been bugging me,

I am an administrator for a school district. The students and staff have folders to store information they may need, documents pictures etc. The students have their own folder called student data, and the staff is staff data. Now when I map the drives from the server to each computer, the students, even though the permissions work to keep them off the staff data mapped network drive, when they get onto the student data mapped network drive they can access each others folder, even though the permissions of the shared folder deny it. The same thing happens with the teachers, the permissions only allow the teacher who owns it, but they can access each others folders. The server has windows 2003 on it.

Please help me with this problem, I appreciate it.

Send a message via AIM to Siliconjunkie
Are you looking at the share permissions or NTFS permissions?
