I need help finding some of the more traditional RPG games.

I am a huge fan of the Breath of Fire, Final Fantasy style games.

Neverwinter, Morrowind, and the like are fun, but not quite on par with my style.

The only two FF games are 7 and 8 and I have played the heck out of them. I was wondering if there were any others out there with great storylines, on par graphics, and longevity.

I'm not much of an RPG gamer, but I played through Anachronox a few times and enjoyed every minute of it. I've heard that it compares to the FF series, but I've never played any of them- so I can't say for sure.

I will say that it is an epic game that will take some serious time to complete, the graphics are tolerable, and the storyline is pretty complex. My first time through the game, I got to the end with my characters a little on the weak side- never could finish, everybody died... my second time through, everyone was leveled up to the max and we kicked butt! The third time was just to explore the game fully, and it's a pretty big world with much to explore. I particularly enjoyed a certain mini-game that involves flying a rather sleek spacecraft into the hive... and that's all I'm gonna say about that...

So, I'll just link you to a review and you can decide for yourself --> Anachronox review

Yeah, I am one of those people who are against paying a monthly fee to play a game I have already purchased.

That Anachronox looks interesting. Not really into futuristic stuff, but if it plays like FF I will have to check it out.

I forgot to mention that I have Grandia 2 for the PC. Looking for more.

No offense but those are not more traditional rpg's.....they are console/japanese/anime story's.
Dungeons and dragons......would be your more traditional RPG's.....and those are similar to the bg/toee/nwn games you mentioned.

Anachronox is something along the line you are looking for...but those games on the PC are few and far between. Thank god IMHO...lol. A lot of PC gamers I know buy consoles for those games because they like them so much....nothing wrong with that.

Well, more traditional for my tastes..=)

If they are truly that rare, is FF XI really worth it? Is there a way you can pay without CC's?

I played ff11 for 3 months. Its a really good game if you like timesinks but its a MMORPG......so its nothing like the ff console series. You basically kill the same monster over and over until you gain levels.....the story line...while good for a MMO is nothing like the regular FF games.......but if you even think you may like it you should try it......

I played Everquest for 3 months. I didn't care much for it. But would be willing to give FF XI a try. Do they have cards you can buy as opposed to a credit card?
