building laptops

my name is damoni own a small computer buisness building and repairing desktops

a few of my customers are asking for laptops

is it possible to build laptops

Much cheaper to go threw dell (or any other major outlet, emachines actually have very decent laptops now). You could possibly but parts would be very expencive, you'd have to worry about heat issues, It would just be a mess. Can get a 2Ghz+ notebook from dell for 599 or so. Why reinvent the wheel for $2000+

a friend of mine builds them and sells them for about $500
he wont let me know his secret because he wants all the buisness

Just tell them to buy through Dell, Toshiba, Gateway, etc.
You could build them Mini-ITX based systems and fix an LCD panel onto the edge and a keyboard onto the top...

true, its better to go thru a major brand name because they will have better support for their systems, where as a small time business would have a hard time with this

AS for the mini ITX systems, its not that bad of an idea, sell em a nice flat panel monitor, put together a small puter, and they can put it almost anywhere
