Kids DVD+RW/+R Drive --> Ricoh MP5240A

I purchased a new computer and with it came the following DVD+RW/+R Drive --> Ricoh MP5240A. Even though i was assured it was installed and working, the computer does not seem to recognise it. I have checked and it is connected properly and the jumper connector is set to Master. the other drive in my computer (D - Set to slave) works fine. It comes with no drivers so i cannot reinstall it and the manual says it should be recognised by the computer as soon as it is connected. The only disk I received was a software disk for Win DVD.

Can Anyone Help???

Is the power cable securely connected? How about trying another IDE cable?

Check to see if it is being recognized by the bios. What version of windows and some other computer specs would help as well.

224 MB RAM huh??? Looks to me like you have a PC with on-board Graphics chip. But that is beside the point. It could be that the drive may be dead. Can you open and close the door on the drive? Try using another 4 pin power connector that is known to work on the Ricoh drive.
