Well.... I have an ATI Radeon 9200

and have been wondering if indeed it is DirectX 9 compatible, so I dug out the box. It is Built by ATI and on the front in big letters it says: Microsoft DirectX 9.0 Compatible. Well, from what I see on their own site, it's only a 8.1 card. Remarkably, I believe the 9.0 compatible and reasonable price is why I choose it over the similarly price GeForce FX 5200. I may have made the wrong choice, but if in fact it is not DX9 compatible doesn't that make it false advertising?

So, anyone know what I can do to get this situation fixed? Given that I bought my "Built by ATI" Radeon 9200 due to being informed it was infact 9.0 compatible?

Can you take a picture of the box where it has this so it doesn't get taken out of context. The radeon 9500 and lower were not direct X 9 cards, it's a shame you were misinformed, you could always try ati's trade up deal and order a newer card.

The key word is "compatible" Most if not all cards are. Right? A DX9 card will say complete DX9 support not compatible. Thats the difference. I think you just misunderstood it. Sorry.

The words DX 9 Compatible is different from DX 9 Capable(which is what is found on some 9600 or later boxes)

Also, as soon as I install directx 9.0 I get a message saying that the 9200 driver has run into a serious issue. So I have to eradicate 9.0 and reinstall 8.1.
