What differences are there between WiFi cards?
Right now my wireless situation is a Netgear WGR614v2 router with the latest firmware, and my laptop has a Netgear WG511 PCCard with the latest ra ra installed. I'm getting a $30 check in a couple days because of the rebates I got when ordering this stuff, and I'd like to do one of two things:
1) Replace my PCCard with something faster/longer range
2) Get a WiFi card for my desktop
1) Is there any difference in regards to different cards, like would I get better range/faster speed if I traded my Netgear in for a Proxim Orinoco Gold 802.11G card?
2) Basically the same question - it's either a Proxim Orinoco Gold A/B/G with an external antenna, or a Netgear WG311 PCI card. Any differences that I'd notice between the two (besides double the price for the Proxim)?
