well im not aware how aol broadband works, dsl or cable but usually with any other isp you will need the a wireless router and a wireless nic for the other computer.
The router is used to have available more ip's for more computers and it handles the configuration for you if you leave it as DHCP, you will connect the cable that goes from you pc from the cable/dsl modem to the router on the internet port.
In the wireless router config you enter you login and password.... the router keeps the connection 24/7 ...... so you are always on.
For wired computers you huck in the back them, and for wireless you need to set some values on the computers that are going to connect to it.
