well im not aware how aol broadband works, dsl or cable but usually with any other isp you will need the a wireless router and a wireless nic for the other computer.

The router is used to have available more ip's for more computers and it handles the configuration for you if you leave it as DHCP, you will connect the cable that goes from you pc from the cable/dsl modem to the router on the internet port.

In the wireless router config you enter you login and password.... the router keeps the connection 24/7 ...... so you are always on.

For wired computers you huck in the back them, and for wireless you need to set some values on the computers that are going to connect to it.

Yep, go with what washe said. All you need is a wireless router, and wireless cards for every computer you want to connect with. If you want quality and don't want to spend a lot, I bought:

Netgear WGR614 802.11G router (version 2)
Netgear WG511 802.11G PCCard for my laptop

For your desktops, get the WG311 PCI 11G adaptor. I haven't used one, but considering I have around 4 Netgear switches/routers, and over 10 of their wired/wireless network cards and they perform flawlessly, I can't recommend them enough for home users.
