I cant even find that neame on avg search on their site
http://www.grisoft.com/virbase/virba...virus_name=6aw

is it "dialer.6aw" or just "6aw" or what?

maybe go online and do the www.antivirus.com free scan....a second opinion is always good..and maybe it will give it another name so we can find exactly what it is etc

also I am under the impression that you must disable system restore to really get rid of the virus..otherwise it is just sitting in system restore the whole time. (yes, you do lose all restore points)

Maybe you should turn off System restore? I had to do that for a virus I had.

You might try the Stinger,it might help ya. I had that virus and I think that is what I used to get rid of it.

You might delete that restore point and get rid of it too.

yes, you must turn off system restore before you can rermove a virus or trojan from the _restore folder. dontcha just love the way windows makes a backup copy of these important virus files for you, to make it really easy to reinfect your system in the event that you accidentally clean it off by misuse of your antivirus programs? or if you have a way to empty the _restore folder (say from linux) then the system will build a new one for you. this is harder when you are using ntfs as you will have to enable read/write mounting of your ntfs partition as it only mounts as read only by default in linux..
