Can't get into Windows Xp

I shut down my desktop yesterday. Today I turned it on and can't get into Windows. I have added no new software or programs. I can get into safemode and there are no red flags in Device Manager.

I did notice that my CPU was reported at the wrong speed. I went into bios and fixed that. I am running Windows Xp with SP1. Will I have to do yet another format and install?

I can't get past the Windows boot screen. I never get to the logon screen it just reboots itself. There is somekind of message that briefly shows itself. It goes by too fast for me to read it. I have tried to pause but I've not had much luck reading it. Tho I can see the word BIOS.

programs/accesories/system tools/system restore..restore it back to before the problem started

then maybe run a good virus scan..could be trojan related maybe

I like the free online one www.antivirus.com
