How to disable touchpad?

I have a Compaq Prosigna 150 Laptop. I'd like to disable the mouse touchpad. Is there a way to do this? Also where can I find software for the mouse? I'd like to be able to scroll. I've looked on the support site, but I couldn't find any.

go into device manager and disable it under pointing devices

for the scroll mouse i've never needed any special driver but mabey uninstall your mouse and reinstall it as a generic scroll mouse

I failed to mention I am running WinMe. When I go to Device Manager Mouse, I only see 2 button generic mouse. Also did not mention that I reformated the hard drive so I have no Compaq software on the machine.

I tried to go to mouse in Control panel and decrease the speed of double click. That has helped alittle.

If I uninstall the 2 button mouse from Device Manager will I still be able to use the mouse? I'd hate to uninstall it and then not be able to move around in Windows.

To install the onboard mouse as a 3 button scroll mouse, I just go to Add and Remove hardware and select generic 3 button mouse? Will WinMe ask for drivers? Which button will be the scroll wheel?

Thanks for the help
