Is Wireless worth all the trouble????????

I know this fits under "networking" group too, but I kinda' need a lot of "laymen's" term-type opions. I'm usually pretty good at trouble shooting & eventually figure stuff out & get it fixed, but here's my scenario...........

Recently bought D-Link di624 (108mbps superG) router and their WGL-520 (ditto) card and at first I was all anxious to hook up my daughter's computer (for what, I don't really know as she's only 7 years old) and have 2 machines up & running but I seem to get along fine with just my main online (no router whatsoever) and I don't know if I'm ready to do battle with all the hassles these wireless setups seem to bring.

Case in point...............Cnet *appeared* to have rave reviews for the D-Link di624 but lately reviews over there seem to be pretty bad. Also, every other week somebody's tellin' me to go to NetGear or Linksys or brand "X". Thinkin' about just returnin' the whole thing & stayin' simple???? TIA

Try it first you might be surprised, you dont even have to run any wires---(return it later if you experience probs)

Send a message via ICQ to washe
test it, if you liked it keep it....

if you are using it for surfing the net and playing online games, wireless is the way to go....

D-link has a pretty good reputation, I'd give it a try. You had better be giving some thought as to how you are going to provide a safe online experience for your 7 year old.

I've got D-Link gear & it's worked flawlessly since day one. Mine is their 802.11B "Plus" version, rated at 22mbps.
Honestly, this works so well that I absolutely cannot tell any difference between my wired & wireless systems, so I see no need for "G".
The wireless setup was so painless it was actually disappointing - I was ready for some challenging hassles, but the thing wouldn't cooperate - it worked right on the first try!

My previous wired-only router was also D-Link. Sold it to my boss w/o any reservations, & he's had no problems.

IMO, you've got one of the best brands going. Keep it!

Grrrr..........I knew you guys were gonna say that!!

Well, what the heck. Maybe I'll go for it this weekend if I have time. I got the router for $49AR and the card for $39AR so it was certainly cheap enough & I can't imagine needing any more speed than superG so it's certainly all I could need in a network for now.

If I run into serious trouble, I'll be belly-achin' & whinin' over here for sure!!

P.S. I found PpGuard by Googling & it appears to be the best for kid filtering?? Any opinions??? Thanks again!!
