These are the specs:

Dell Dimensions 4600

P4 2.66GHz (533MHz FSB)

512MB Ram(Micron PC2700)(brand new)

ATI Radeon 9100 128MB AGP video card(added less than 1 month ago)

80 GB Western Digital Hardrive

Built-in 5.1 audio

Built-in ethernet

Dell keyboard(brand new)

Dell mouse(brand new)

Dell back up CD's (drivers/apps)

What do you think the first upgrade should be? The main things ill be using this computer for are to download, play games, and surf the net. Of course email to. Will this computer get me by? My computer im using right now is 6 years old.

One of the first things id want to do is add a Dvd Burner to it any suggestions on what on for a good price. It dont have to be anything real fancy.

Please help me out

thanks

agreed on the 3d card, anything above or equal to a 9600np/5700u (or pro for more power) should work fine with these games you have said with decent fps and detail... as for ram, you dont NEED more, but having more could never kill ya, and try and see if you can run dual channel on it so u know to get 2x 256mb sticks or a different setup

Definately new video card. When the new generation cards come out for ATi and nVidia you can get the cards that are now top of the line for a lot less than they are now. So wait a month or so to buy that. As far as ram, another stick of 256 or 512 if you can afford it. BF: Veitnam and UT2004 are pretty graphics intensive, so you'll need it.

And by the way, if you are going to be gaming, why not join up at TechIMO's sister site, www.clanimo.com and play with us?
