computer restarts

I've recently discovered that when I click on properties in windows explorer, my computer restarts. I'm using XP Home. I've tried upgrading the mouse driver and don't really have any other ideas. Any ideas will be appreciated. Mitch

What's the rating on your power supply? It's possible that you have an underpowered, or dying power supply in your computer.

Or at least that's what the majority of problems are caused by around here. Buy a good quality powersupply and you shouldn't have any problems.

My theory is that windows detects some kind of error and gets scared of it and resets. I guess you should do the standard stuff like updating your drivers (sound card, modem, video) and service packs for windows. Any special/old hardware or something like that?
