Cyclic Redundancy Check

What exactly is cyclic redundancy check? I have been encountering these errors when copying data from a mixture of closed session DVD+Rs and CD-Rs. These discs were created on different systems with different burners. I have not observed the redudancy check when copying data from a disc created on the system it is being read on. Event viewer notes "The device, \Device\CdRom0, has a bad block." when the error is encountered. The data is a mixture of audio and data files.

Any thoughts?

Thank you

Usually the problem is crap media. I've just got a 50 pack of tdk's (made by ritek) that i a crc error on about 1 in 4 discs. I've always used Fuji or Memorex made in Japan. Worth the extra $. Good Luck.
