Kids Remote Desktop Connection Helo

I want to connect to my office computer from home. I have a DSL connection at home and my office computer is on a network sharing a cable modem connection. Where do I find the address to get in to my office network. I believe the address of the cable connection is a dynamic rather than static address so how can I regularly get into the office via my home computer using remote desktop connection?

Are you the administrator for your network? If not have you discussed this with the administrator?

PS. Welcome to Tech IMO

if the computer at work is sharing a connection by means of a router you would have to set up port forwarding for your machine(in the router) with your ip address at work. you can go into the router from your web browser @ work. ive done with is linksys routers but dont know what you have at work.

p.s. the default port for RD is 3389. so in the router you would have to forward that. but you would need to enter the correct ip address for your machine at work. if you are the admin, and can get into the router than you should have no problems. well, depending on what kind of security you have there such as other firewalls, and what not.

That was a good link Gz3. thank you for posting it. I did not know MS had a remote destop program for Windows 2K and NT. I am going to have to look into it.

NickT, have you thought about a VPN connection?
