Kids quick restore 5020 problems

My harddrive blew on my compaq 5020 and I couldn't find the restore disk, so I bought a new quickrestore disk from compaq. After installing the new harddrive and formatting it, the quickrestore stops at the a: prompt. Is there a way to get the restore to work from the disk? I looked on the disk and I dont see an setup.exe on the disk, so where do I go from there? I would be greatful for any leads.

Is the disk clean? Clean off any finger prints and check for scratches. I'm not sure, but maybe someone could shed some more light on this. But wouldn't the restore disk not work because the hardware configuration has been changed? or is that only when you update the bios?

Superfast Reply

Thanks for your quick response, the disk is clean and new with no scratches, not sure about the bios settings though.

Yes on the boot

I put the restore in and power up. The quickrestore starts and asks what I want to do, like systems test, return to DOS, or restore. The screen goes green for a second, and acts like it is going to restore, but then stops a an A: with no other options. I tried to boot with the floopy as well, but it bombed as well.

Thanks All for your help..
