Is this effective?

I opened the side door of my case and put a regular oscilating room fan (in stationary mode) in front of it so that it is blowing into the case at the top speed setting.

I currently have only one 80mm rear exhaust fan but have open spaces for another rear exhaust and a front intake fan. Should I get two more fans for these ports and use them as exhaust fans (including the front) to increase air flow?

Would this be effective in any way?

For the front, you should have the fan pulling air in and the back should be pulling air out. The big fan you have could be effective if your trying to elliminate heat as a factor if your having a problem.

Yes, typically one should do that, but the big fan at the side is blowing in so much air at such a high velocity that I can feel it coming out of the open fan slot in front.

Wouldn't a fan installed in the front as intake reduce airflow throughout the system?

Ideal air flow should come from the bottom front (since cooler air is lower to the ground) of the case and exhaust out of the top back (since hot air rises).

The only reason why the air is comming out the front is because the fan is really powerful and forcing the air to leave any way it can.

I mean unless your planning on keeping the house fan there permanently, cases are designed to circulate air through the front and out the back.

Yeah...I see what you mean.

I think I will keep it there permanently though, because it seems to be doing some good.

Also, for some reason, I'd rather sleep to the sound of the house fan the puter fans. It's not as high pitched.

I just wanted to see if anyone else had attempted this and what their results were.
