Systems Help, help !!

For reasons known only to me, I am installing WIN2000 pro again onto a partially working WIN2000 pro system.

When it gets to the part where it tries to detect the devices, and finishes, when I try and press either the next or previous buttons,
the PC beeps once, and locks up.

I need to cancel the setup somehow, or get it to finish.
I have tried booting into safe mode but it still continues with the setup.

Does anyone have a good idea how to do this ?

thanks

You may need to format and start from scratch.

The 2 conflicting installs may be your problem.

Well

this time the install completed, without me pushing the "next" button. It went ahead all by itself.

I get an error when widooes starts dealing with user32.dll, related to
WCMDMGR.EXE.

I haven't tried all the apps yet, but expect something to blow up soon.

Any clues as to what to try to fix the user32.dll error ?

and thanks again.

Hmmmm

I reloaded Directx and the error went away.

This is voodoo stuff.
