lcd flat panel help

i am in the market for flat panel but i am not to sure where to start. i dont know the terminology and what brightness is good and contrast ratio and response time is good?
i am looking for a 17 or 19 in monitor that can play dvd's well and video games like unreal 2k3 and 2k4, MOH.....
i hear that some come with swivel, but i am not too sure


please help me and she some light.... point me in the right direction

for games you want the lowest response time (i think 16ms is what people aim for now)

also, you will probably want to get one with a "native resolution" that is the same as the resolution you will play your games in

you can also get a feel for it by just going to site, like Dells..or maybe newegg and just compare specs....you can see by the price which ones are the low end and which are the high end and then you can sort of see the range of specs etc

My reccomendation as always for a 17" LCD is the Benq FP767-v2. I have the first version so the case is a bland biege but that is the only thing different. It has 16ms respnose time so it's very good for games.
