Word and recovering documents

Anyone know anything about recovering documents in word. I just plugged my flash disk in and 2 of the most important word documents I have, that I didn't get a chance to back up, are totally corrupted and cannot be opened at all. One of them says it needs a converter. I installed it but I have no idea what to convert it from. I looked at a lot of them and it is all wrong. Anyone have any ideas?

Sounds like your flash disk got scrambled.. happens to my SD cards in my camera once in a while.

Sorry to say this but I think you are out of luck.

It's odd because most of the other data opens fine on that disk. Should I reformat it or something?

You're not accessing files on the flash drive, are you? Best to work with files on the hard drive and only copy on and off the flash drive (same procedure you would use for floppies).
