Systems Problem With Geforce FX5200

Hi All,

If any help can be provided it would be most appreciated.

I recently bought a Leadtek Winfast GeForce FX5200 128MB for my computer, since then my system has become very unstable. I cannot watch divx movies or play certain games (eg. Splinter Cell) It is depressing coz I've tried to install different versions of ForceWare but this does not solve the problem. Can anyone please help.

Thanks
Mine

Thanks osprey4 for replying.

I have a Soltek motherboard with 512 MB Ram, Intel P3 1GHz, 40 Gig HDD and 16X DVD-Rom. Of course the nVidia Geforce FX5200 128 MB graphics card. O/S = WinXP Pro.

What do you think the problem may lie?

My rig is pretty similar, Dell Dimension 4100 with 512 MB Ram, P3-933MHz, and 16X DVD-Rom. I've got an FX5200 Ultra and I'm overclocking the card very slightly. Splinter Cell, which came with the card, is pretty mediocre. In restrospect, I wish I had held out for a better card.

Gaming

I also regret not taking out more money for a better card. I'm just getting highly irritated with the card coz all it has been giving me is grief and troubles.

On the other hand, I'm not having any trouble with playing movies.

I'm not familiar with Forceware. Is that a driver for this card? Have you tried the latest detonator drivers released very recently?

What was your previous card? and did you completely remove the old drivers? if it was an nvidia card you might try uninstalling the drivers and using this, http://downloads.guru3d.com/download.php?det=603 then reinstall.

You need to make sure that when switching cards or updating drivers that you uninstall them through Add/Remove programs. Otherwise it won't work right, as people are finding out when they replace their softmodded 9500 Pros with 9800 Pros.

Osprey - ForceWare is the new name for the Detonator driver pack. I'm not sure why they changed it.

I guess Detonator wasn't sending the right sort of message as to what the drivers might do to your computer.
