HP Pavilion

Ok, here's one that will drive you nuts. Had to wipe the drive because of virus. No recovery disks. Finally got 98 SE to load but will not load any other software. Will start to load then goes to "blue screen of death" with a VDcashe error. Windows seems to run find but can't load anything. HELP!!! any thoughts.

Welcome to the forum!

hmm, could it be a ram issue?

maybe download and run memtest86 http://www.memtest86.com/

-----

did you get the motherboard drivers and windows updates first etc? that could be affecting things.

Replace the ram,,, Or you could try reseating it first.

if that system came with xp on it and your trying to install 98, you may not have all the driver for the motherboard and nothing will work properly.
