Help Needed With Bunch Of Qs

If you can respond to some/all of the following I would much appreciate it. TIA.

1. A client running Windows 98 has just reported that they can’t login and received an error message that “no Domain Server is available to validate your password”. How could this error occur and how would you solve it?

2. A server is to be configured with RAID 1 and RAID 5. What is the minimum number of drives required? Define what RAID 1 and RAID 5 refer to.

3. A user reports a problem that they can’t browse to any URL. What steps would you take to troubleshoot this problem?

4. The policy for our company is to send all computer requests to Help Desk by e-mail or by phone if e-mail is not available. How would you deal with if a user came to you directly for a computer problem?

Note to mods: This originally appeared in another section of the forum. But at the suggestion of a member I am also posting here.

5. A client sent an e-mail explaining that they can’t print to the bookkeeping printer, it is month end and they desperately need to print. This printer is connected to the network with a queue on a print server and you have 5 other client requests in your queue. How would you address this problem?

6. A user is unable to access a shared network drive that they use everyday. What steps would you take to solve this problem?

7. A client reports that when they tried to print from Outlook they received an Illegal Operation error message. How would you troubleshoot this problem?

1) check DNS
2) check www.whatis.com (search on RAID)
3) check via pign hostname and by IP
4) ask them to submit properly
5) make client wait (his lack of planning does not constitue an emergency for me) :P
6) check ping connectivity; reboot client; otherwise depends on the environment
7) give them GroupWise instead :P (actually check MS KB for info)
