Kids problems with Outlook Express

Please, oh please help me.

When I opened OE about two hours ago, all of a sudden I was unable to view my messages. The program will allow me to foreward messages complete with text but in OE I am unable to see the message. I can receive messages and send them but I just can't see what is in the body of the message. This just started. I have emptied my temp folder and done just about every suggestion I can find on the web. My husband is computer tech and he has never seen anything like this. Reinstalling OE doesn't help.

What can I do?

Thank you.

Do you mean the preview pane?

It's under 'View' > 'Layout' > 'Show Preview Pane'. Try putting a check in the box if there isn't one.

tried that. No luck. I'm really flummoxed with this one.

Also, my mouse pointer is showing the arrow and a busy hourglass. Don't know if this is important but thought I would add the information.

Hello,

I thought I was the only one! This started on Thursday for me. I uninstalled/reinstalled OE and it was OK. As soon as I imported my old messages on Friday, the problem re-appeared. I uninstalled/re-installed again. Today, When i first opened OE, I had the same problem again. Like you, I can't see the body of the message. Nothing in the preview pane but an hourglass, and the same thing if I click FILE- OPEN, or doubleclick on the message.

I found a fix!

Here you go Kashmir....hope it helps.

Go to: Start>Run>Type in: regsvr32 inetcomm.dll - Press: Enter.

If it re-occurs, run AdAware & SpyBot.

B.

I recall reading that there is an upper limit to the "database" file size that OE can handle without "problems" occuring. Perhaps this is the problem you are running into?

Basically, if you have been keeping all your old received messages, sent messages, etc. within OE eventually the file that contains all these messages gets too large. Periodically, we need to clean out the old mail. The old mail can be saved as *.eml in your My Documents folder (or any place else that you would like to store them.

thank you all for your input!! Nice to know that we weren't the only ones getting this error. My husband thinks we got virused when we downloaded a page from a poker site. We won't be going back there again. He tried some fix, I don't know what and my OE seems to be working again. I do know he had to clear out everything, all old pages, messages etc.
