New Build help

Just finally got my HD today. stuck it in and i keep gettin stuck at that flippin veryifying dmi pool data. i unplugged the hard drive and it goes to windows install stuff but then i get the stupid you have no hard drive error and i cant put it on :P It was working then i got some stupid windows stop error on install and hasnt gotten past dmi pool thing yet any help i would love thanks

Atholon XP 2500+ Barton
512 DDR 333 Kingston ram
Nvidia gforce3 440 gfx card
Abit KV7 MB

is you cd drive on the same cable ?
is the hard drive jumpered correct ?
is the cd drive jumpered correct ?
do you have other ram to test on the board ?
whats the os you are using ?

cd drive is on a seperate cable, what does "jumper" mean? no other ram except sdram from other computer dont know if that works trying to install windows xp pro

There are jumpers on the back of the drives that can be set to cable select, master, or slave.

ok i messed with it and now its going dmi update successfull then stops working... grrr

ok wow it booted from cd finally...hope it makes it all the way through installation "crosses fingers"

lol, you don't just mess with the jumpers, you have to choose the right one, depending what your drive configuration is.

DMI pool data does not indicate HDD jumper issue....if you get the jumpers wrong the drive just wont show up in BIOS.

I would suggest checking over and making controlled one at a time changes to the BIOS settings to see if there is something there.

Consider resetting to default settings in mobo....

Consider doing a BIOS update...there may be an issue with your drive...

Also, you did not specify...but do you have a SATA HDD or ATA-100 ??? because with SATA you do not need to worry about playing with jumpers and stuff.

Look there...because DMI Pool data sounds like something there...particulary if you cannot even get a decent WinXP install happening.
