Question on USB Capturing

Hello there..I am just wondering if any of you could answer a question. I just bought a Sony DCR-TRV250 Camcorder. The quality of the video through the LCD screen and when I hook it up to the TV is great..but when I connect it to the computer via USB cable..it works but the quality is complete crap. Its extremely pixelated and you can`t really tell what is going on. If I pause the camera and then export the picture to BMP..it still is terrible. I use ImageMixer if thats any help. I was just wondering if some settings were mixed up or if you just can`t get great picture out of a USB cable..thanks for ANY help!

32mb Riva TNT2 Graphics Card
128mb SDRam
60gig Hard drive.

use your firewire to move video files to your computer
