general rule of thumb here, don't upgrade to the newer kernel unless you have a reason to

2.6 kernels handle IDE transfers MUCH better. Large IDE transfers no longer kill the system.

For production servers I dont upgrade kernels unless necessary. But for a home machine, a config is easy to whip up and will work just fine.

Anything from the changelog worth note for 2.6.5? I am lazy

10 uses the 2.6.3 kernel by default I believe.

FURTHER NOTE: Some problems have been reported booting from disk 1 of the 10.0 Community Edition. It may be necessary to boot from disk 2 then switch to disk 1 to start the install process.

ALSO NOTE: Mandrake 10 is missing from most mirrors. Mandrake has reportedly removed the images from servers in preparation for a newer release, which will be available to club members first. For now the 10.0 Community Edition ISOs have been archived at the tux.org mirror.

a little bit of info cribbed from linuxiso.org.
is 2.6.3 an unstable release, or has the middle number to be odd e.g. 2.7.3 to signify the unstable branch??
