Desktop icon problem

Around 4 months ago all of a sudden my "My Computer" and "Recycle Bin" icons got a ugly bold around them, I tried to refresh them, I tried everything but the bold stayed on them so I had to replace the icons. All of a sudden today the folder icon gets the bold around it as well, the only way I can get rid of it is to replace it which I don't want to do. Also note that I tried to go back to the other my computer icon and the bold was still around it, look at this folder. That is the bold that I am talking about.

don't know how to fix that but I must comment on your background it looks very clean and I like the silver look :P sorry I couldn't help and gl

Did you go into desktop properties and select default icon?
Right click the desktop, select properties, > effects > Default Icon

While there make sure to select the visual effects that look best on your screen. Such as "smooth edges of screen fonts" OR "Show icons using all possible colors", ETC..

None of that stuff works, the tools fix it at first but once the desktop is refreshed or once you actually click on the folder it goes back to its messed up self, any other fixes?
