"and i have it on DVD or AVI"
Uh yeah thats video overlay issues. Hmmm. You have proper mobo drivers installed, current up to date DX and up to date video card drivers? THats not a capture card issue. Its a video playback issue!
"when the satellites S-Video is inserted i get picture but no sound.. the sound port is like headphones shaped and not like the yellow and white wires.."
K. S-video is made from seperated video. It has no audio to it. Just video so the signal gets more power (bandwidth) and you get better picture. You hook up the white and red rca's off back off satt. box for audio(I have sat. tuner and capture card too). Now you need a converter cable. Can buy one at radio shack but my cards came with it. It takes RCA's into a headphone style jack. Called "mini din". Now you will have a cable with RCA's on one end. The headphone mini hack on other (get stereo cable by the way). Plug rca's to sat box audio out. Plug mini headphone jack into you sound cards LINE_IN jack. Thats it. S-video with stereo sound EVEN on a mono capture card. Psst =dont tell ati that it would hurt there stereo capture card sales. hehe.
Im a capture/conversion nut as you can tell So anything you need to know fire away!
"when i got the coax cable wire that was in the satellite box into the tv turner, i get no picture, and it goes from 0-125 chans"
Yes this will be that case with it set to rca/s-video under tuner properties. You must go into tuner setup. Then go to input tab or setup. Now for input type switch from s-video/rca to Anntenna/cable mode. Also for antenna /cable to tune into sat. you must set ch. to either 3 or 4! also I have to somtimes RESET sat box by powering on and off again to get cable to tune in. You'll see pic on tv, not on pc. Then power the box off and on again it will come on. Somthing screwy with the two tv outputs on RCA direct tv box I have. NOW the RF (threaded jack, antenna, cable wire) will work. You should be all set now except that video overlay issue. Hope that wasnt too confusing.
