Windows Media Player keeps a history of multimedia files that you have played. You can see the history by clicking on the File menu while the application is open.
For your own privacy, you might want to erase this list. Windows Media Player, however, doesn't have a way to clear the history, nor is there a way to turn the history recording off from within the application.
To clear the history list, you need to hack the registry. Before you make any registry changes, be sure to back it up first.
The easy way
The easiest way to make the registry change is to download and run the following file. This file will make the registry change for you. The file is compressed as a Zip file, so you need to decompress it first.
Download and decompress the file.
Double-click the file.
You should get a message box that asks you to confirm that you want to add information to the registry. Click on Yes. You're done.
well I will try that, I do have 9.0. The funny thing is that it has had the like same 3 files in my history for like 3 months but I have used a ton of different media files with it but it doesn't show any of the new ones up.
