runs hot, overclocks like a mother, performs excellent, cheap.

amdxp is great for gamers because the higher (much higher, in fact) clocked p4s and its comparably rated amdxp chip are pretty much even give or take a few frames per second. 3dmark scores are always very similar... although p4 seems to take top honors over the flagship xp.

however, for video editing and music encoding (anything that takes RAW horsepower), the p4 stacks up better than anything out of the xp line... you need the amd64s to go toe to toe with the p4s in this regard.

i have an amdxp 2500+ and i often have it overclocked to around 3500-3600+ speeds... watercooled of course!

I have built three AMD machines for myself now and I've been pleased with all of them. Performance for price, they can't be beat. I'm currently running a 2500+@3200+

I've never had any problems with any of my AMD computers. I use them mostly for gaming.

I'll be using me my new PC I'm building for mostly gaming, so is The AMD Athlon XP 3200+ good? I really need to know this because this is going to weigh on my decision on which processor I should get either a intel P4 or Amd Athlon XP.(Also my budget weighs on this decision

If you're looking for gaming, definitely go AMD. I run a P4 2.4 dell at home & I also have an AMD Athlon XP2000+ rig that'll kick its butt all day............(in reality). Who would win the benchmarks? Who cares. You care about what you can see and what I see is that AMD 2000 reacting faster than Georgia Tech on a fast break!!

Anyway, save the $$$ for a nice video card. I'd suggest either an nVidia Ti4200 for a budget rig or 9600XT thru 9800pro for a higher-end rig. (Actually, there are some 9800pros sub $200 nowadays, so I'd go straight to that card & sleep easy!) My .02!!!

oem no fan and heatsink just the processor, you will need to buy separately heatsink, fan, and thermal paste..... if you are going to overclock the system it would be a good option.

Retail comes already with a generic heatsink and fan with the thermal paste already added to the heatsink..
