Floppy help.

I barrowed a disk from a classmate and when I returned it, it was not working any more. I have no Idea what could have happened just that it did and Im responsible. So does any one know how to recover the volume if it doesnt recognize a disk being in there?

I'd try it in a few drives. Another thing to do, and it can be tricky, is take the disk apart, remove the data plate/actual disk/whatever, blow it really good with compressed air, and then place the plate in another brand new floppy. Sometimes transplants like this can work, but it depends on the problem. Just use compressed air first.

When you placed the diskette in your A: drive...did it read the disk?..or, did your machine say something like "The disk in drive A: is not formatted..do you want to format it"?

If it said that..did you follow thru and say yes...format it?

If you borrored the disk, did you copy it?

How exactly does it not work?
Does the drive head attempt to read it but not find data?
Does the little dust cover open properly and is not jammed?
If you use a pen or pencil and try to turn the center hub of the disk on the underside of the floppy, does it turn easily?

Time to buy a Jetflash 128MB personal storage solution...

Far greater reliability
