MOD Chip what is it? XBOX.

Hi,

Boys have been asking to get a mod/upgrade chip for there xbox,
so that they can bring games from there dads here (there mums), but because there two other brothers go the other way at weekends it not going to happen, so apart from buying doubles...bla bla bla (you get the idea).

Anyway what is a MOD/upgrade chip (Xecuter 2.3 is one i saw in a pop-up). What will it

it is a small processor chip which fools the console into thinking that the disk you have inserted has the correct region and copy protection code on it. these codes are not copyable by normal means, so backup (or pirated) discs and out of region discs will not have the codes, and will not usually work. they are generally soldered inside the console and void your warranty.

(slightly off topic) You can also get processor and memory upgrades for you xbox as well as a new BIOS chip to help run DVDs and allow the new processor to work. I was considering getting a new processor upgrade but the price tags are a wee bit expensive for my liking. Plus if you do manage to get a memory upgrade or CPU upgrade for your xbox it still voids the warranty along with barring you from xbox live (which can be a bugger).

There both over a year old, don't want to pirate games....

So looks like buying the game twice, if they cant be talked into a different game.
