loading linux on an imac

i was wondering how to load linux onto a mac. I put the cd in but it doesnt do anything when i reboot. I heard u had to hold down c but that didnt work. how do u do it.

Normally you have to hold down c to boot off of the CDROM.
Is the CDROM bootable?

well i burned mandrake linux onto a cd on my pc but i mad sure i downloaded the mac version of it. I have an old imac G3. I would assume that the cd would be able ot be booted from.

check to see if it boots on the PC...
If not you might have burnt something incorrectly.

Make sure of course that you are loading the image and burning it, rather than just burning the image file as data.

that may be the problem how do you load an image file. i think i just burned it as data. i have roxio easy cd creator if that helps

should be like
file --> "Burn disc from image" or something to that effect

ok it worked but when i load it on and get into the second satge or whatever i cant read any of the menus and the text is overlapping and goin of the screen what do i do about this

when u get to that first install menu.. where it says press F1 for more options do that.
I forget the exact command but the help there sohuld have it.
Set it so that it only runs in 640x480, sounds like you are having some sort of resolution conflict in the installer
