ATI slipup? speaker notes...

http://www.3dgpu.com/phpbb/viewtopic...=127717#127717

Anyone heard about this? Is it real? What does it mean? I dont really get it.

Theyre saying thats the speakers notes for some presentation...apparantly they forgot to cut it out when they published the slideshow or something.

Holy crap! Assuming this is real, it shed some light on ATI's future. A majority of the text seems to be directed towards developers about how to get DX9 and DXnext to run more efficiently. But it also mentions some interesting things like: 512 mb video cards! After reading, I think I have more of an idea why companies are pushing PCI-EG so hard, AGP may have plenty of bandwidth, but its extremely laggy. "latent like molasses" according to the .ppt file

There is latency to agp transfers. But its the nothbridge chip and mainboard layout that creates it for the most part. Better chipsets and design could fix it. Im staying off the pci-express bandwagon and the new backwards cases as long as I can. I just have this feeling that the first few gens of pci-x arent gonna live up to the hype. About the 2nd or 3rd time the redo it. (2nd or 3rd rendition) It'll prolly be half what they say it is. Similar past experiences? Willy before P4 northy! JUNK in compairison. How about how RDRAM was supposed to kill parallel mem like ddr and sdr? Introduced in P3 era and it was not even faster then sdr!O.K. how about how much better DDRII is supposed to be over DDR but isnt? Cause higher latency and heat counters nearly all bandwidth gains. Now nvidia is onto DDRIII when II isnt even right yet! Its sick is what it is. Cant even iron the wrinkles out of what they got now. Just jump into the next new thing. Without real insight into what the issues are with current tech. We learn from our mistakes but we must first know what they were! Also the right way to solve any problem is to first know what the problem IS and what the goal is. Commen sense says if ddrII spec is hard to nail down and make work. DDRIII will be worse. LOL.
