battery or power supply????

i have a 500watt power supply(achieve/viomax).

i have

epox 8rda3+
2500 barton
9600xt
cdrw
dvd
dvd burner
raid controller with 2 hdd(stripe 0)
512mb pc3200

the box was running fine and i switched everything to a new case including changing the power supply to the one mentioned above.

now the problem--

i can not get anything on the monitor.

if i remove the battery and put it back in it will work for about 5 minutes.

is this a battery problem or power supply problem?

robin

try running without the battery, or just replace it anyway, but you may have heat issues in your new case.

i took the controller card off and 1 hdd and the cdrw.

now it is running fine. loaded up win2k pro on the one hdd(i miss my raid).

well what do you guys think the problem was now?

some type of glich with the controller card?

i think having raid on the mobo works better than adding a controller card.

you could look into the plug and play aware os settings if it is in your bios or try setting resources manually, as you video and controller card may have been in contention for an irq. especially if you changed the expansion slot you were using for these cards when you rebuilt in the new case.

ok update.

i have changed power supplies/video cards and still won't work.

i noticed that the fan on the video cards spin for about 2 minutes and stop.

so now my thought is that the little 4 pin power plug(don't know what it is actually called) that looks like the 20pin power supply is not working properly.

am i correct with my thought? if so then i would need to replace the mobo correct?
