Can't run Farcry on my system

I have a P4 3.0 with only 256k of memory, a Geforce 5200fx card and everything is set to med in the game. Im in the process of upgrading my memory to 1gig and later getting an 9800 pro.

Whats happening is after the game loads, it moves extremely slow. Its totally unplayable. I havent set the game to low. Its set to auto. Is it my memory too low? Or is it the card.

Im looking to get the Corsair twinx highend pc3200 ram and see what happens. I fail to mention that I have the Prescott chip because I do a lot of dvd copying and other things. i know it cant be that.

After I get out of the game i get an virtual memory error. The 128 video and the 256k isnt enough that it has to go into the h/d? This is on windows XP. Any help would be appreciated.

256k of memory aint enough. I only had that much and had so many visual errors it looked like a childs fingerpainting! Upgraded to 512 RAM and problem solved.

Welcome to TechIMO!!!

The game requires at least 256 MB as minimum and surely windows xp only eats that amount.... but it should run...

are you up to date on directx, audio and video drivers?

Try the low settings, and if its playable tweak some of them.

i have an amd 2600 (2 gig) geforce3 64mb and 768mb 266 ddr.. i have everything on medium and it works fine. im running win2k pro

more than likely xp is sucking up all your ram, obviously you have enough video card to run the game.
