Emachines M6805?

Best Buy shows this machine as having 512mb from the factory and 1.25gb RAM max. How does this work? How many memory slots does it have? I'm wondering if it has two slots, plus 256 onboard somewhere. I'm thinking I'd need to buy two 512mb memory chips, but I'm not sure. If that's the case, I'd probably just buy one and live with a gig rather than paying for two, only to have the second give me 256mb more.

Thoughts?

I just pulled the cover and looked in mine

It has 256Mb of Samsung RAM built into the motherboard and one expansion slot (256Mb Samsung installed factory).

Hopefully the prices of RAM will drop before I go to upgrade

1GB PC2700 (DDR400) SODIMM = $435.99

so u can remove the 256 mb ram built into the motherboard?? If not then how would u get 1 gb ?? coz if u remove the 256 mb from the expansion slot and put a 512 then ur gonna get only 768 mb of ram...

You build laptops? Where you get the parts?

jai6638, you remove the 256MB add in card, replace it with a 1GB card, and end up with 1.25GB of system RAM. I posted the price above, which is for a 1GB stick.
