burning DVDs

I appoligise if this has been asked before, I have a burner that can burn dvds, but how do i copy dvds? do i have to rip. them to the pc first, or can I make an exact copy? quite often dvds are larger than like 6 gigs.

any advice or help would be appreciated.

If you have nero and you get the latest DVD shrink software its a 3 click affair and your done
