I need to get a hub for my house. I have a cable modem.

I dont know which one to get

I have two computers that i need to hook up to the hub and my playstation 2

Will this hub work?

Yes it would work but I would recommend getting a switch instead.
Like this:

The switch relays data to the pc that it needs to go to whereas the hub sends the data to all machines on the network and the pc that the data is intended for picks it up. More efficient and will run at higher speeds if you have different speed nic's in the machines.

I agree with the others if you want to share internet access get a router.

yes...that will work.

are you going to try to get internet on both pc's?

if so you probably need a roiter instead of a hub...unless your isp allows more than one computer to be geting an ip address.

if the isp doesnt allow several ip addresses then you need a router...a router takes the one ip from the isp and gives out new internal ip addresses to all the comp you hook to it (up to like 253 comps, lol)

--

if I were you id just get a nice cheap router..you can find them for less than $30 after rebate

--

a router usually has a built in 4 port switch....a switch is just a smarter version of a hub

This linksys one should work pretty well and adds extra security to your network and it can be allowed to daisy chain off of it if needed more ports.
