Setting Default Browser

Hi,

I recently installed mozilla browser and by accident clicked to not set IE6 as my default browser. I checked the option back to set IE6 as my default but now links in my Outlook and Excel open up on Mozilla.

I tried going into my computer->tools->options->file types, and all my URL file types are set to Mozilla and the "change" option is grayed out. In short, IE6 is my default browser but links within applications open up in Mozilla.

Can anyone help me out here? Is there a registry setting to set everything back to IE6 as default? Thanks!

You should be able to highlight a file type and then hit change.
Does this work?

Tools --> Internet Options --> Program tab

There is a checkbox that says make sure IE is the default.

elroy: when i highlight the file type the "change" button is grayed out only for the URL file types.

vass0922: that checkbox is checked and i restared and set IE6 back as default but URL links still open in mozilla which is why my situation is so weird.

I'm assuming you already hit the "reset" button on that same tab?

Have you tried goign through explorer (NOT IE) --> Folder Options --> File Types and select URL file type?

For URL file type I have

rundll32.exe shdocvw.dll,OpenURL %l

I have hit the reset button and I have tried changing my File Type options in explorer. But the option is grayed out to change File Type associations.

Is this your own machine or a corporate machine?
