Is the buying of this chip a bad move. what is the good, the bad and the ugly on this chip?

well idk how much it is but you can get a 2500+ for $80

what motherboard do you have?

if you can get a faster chip for a few dollars more maybe that is better...a lot of people think the XP2500 is a good buy for price/performance ration

2500+ is definetely a good deal, go with that.

Yeah I agree if you have a few bucks more get the 2500+. I'm very happy with mine,it's a great chip.

Well like mentioned above the 2500+ is by far the better way to go seeing that your bus speeds will be much better. Also rember that when upgradeing to this processor you will need to change memory to DDR2700, I changed mine to the HyperX DDR PC3000. The nice thing about going to this memory was it runs at 370mhz which helps when OC. The Barton will run very stable at 2800+ speeds and with a litttle cooling can run at 3200+ speeds. Just remember that before attempting any of the above invest in some cooling. Tt makes some nice heatsink and fans. Good Luck
