First-it sounds like you do not any/all the service packs and critical updates from windows and
second you are under the minimum for ram-get some

Chances are you're overheating or your powersupply isn't holding up.

The #1 cause of that problem on all the pc's ive fixed over the years has been a powersupply thats either failing, or not big enough to handle all the stuff plugged into it. Thats not the only cause, but its the biggest one.

Have you ever been connected to a network? Maybe there is a networking problem, particularly with WinXP Home.

Have you had problems with any of your appz or utilities (eg nvidia desktop, downloaders....like u know what?)

Viruses???? Maybe one of the viruses is playing with the system

What things have you been doing lately that could be linked to it?

Erm, 128MB may be fine for what he does, it is low, but you don't have to argue.

sec4allstar, can you start up your OS and tell us how much free RAM you have though?

Who's arguing?
Everybody on this site has 128mb of ram because that is the best amount to have for xp.
edit
right now of the 2 gb of ram I have only 1.65 gb is available.
Does that mean @400 mb is being used?
edit
also, he is only seeing the 128 on his hd which we know means (most likely) that the sp1 is not installed.
